Moving deeper into the land of the Unknown.

Author David Darst    Category Uncategorized     Tags

God told Abraham…”leave your Fathers house and go to a land I will show you”  How nice would be be punch in an address to the destination that God had in store for you.  then use your Tom Tom to give you a turn by turn course until you arrive at your destination?  The life of faith does not work that way though does it?  However we do have a GPS (Guidance Powered by the Spirit)  We must walk by faith and not by sight.

I have been praying on a daily basis for God to put Kingdom people in my path — to make “Kingdom Konnections” on a daily basis and God has been faithful it see that prayer through.

Just yesterday I was praying (after a week of being in the house) “Lord I need something to do…”  “Do I need to look for a regular job…or should I look for a job in ministry or should I trust you to provide for my family through ministry opportunities”?  The next day a Kingdom Minded man…gave me a call and it looks to be setting up a door opening for me to get into real-state business, with the liberty to pursue my music ministry.  Becky and I have been down to one vehicle and have only needed one, but she started doing some work at a flower-shop and has needed the SUV.  So the guy loaned me a truck to drive that had been sitting in a barn for a year.  Man God is awesome.  The Great part about it is that I am coming to a greater understanding about how God provided.

Sometimes its hard to get away from the ownership precept, but when it comes down to it…in the Kingdom prospective…what do you really own?  We are stewards of God’s stuff — the stuff we have in our “possession” is not ours, it’s God’s given to us on loan to be a steward.  Our Talents, possessions and yes even our children — yep — God’s   I’m so thankful that every blessing I have been receiving is coming from kingdom people who understand well this principle.  We are all working together to accomplish the King’s Kingdom agenda, and not building up our own Kingdom’s.

Thank you to everyone who is being a good steward of the King’s stuff and blessing our lives as a result.

Darst’s Song Emerges As Best In Song Of Faith Contest

It’s been a long musical row to hoe for David Darst of Chandler. Poised to take on a country music career 20 years ago, Darst said “God interrupted my plans, and called me to preach.”

But perhaps those plans for the son — and grandson — of a preacher man have been restored a bit. Darst was overwhelmingly chosen on Friday as composer of the “Best Song” for the 2009 Song of Faith contest run by the Tyler Morning Telegraph’s Religion section.

Song of Faith 2009 winner David Darst (center) shakes hands with Tyler Morning Telegraph Managing Editor Dave Berry while being presented the plaque for winning the Song of Faith contest at the Tyler Morning Telegraph on Friday. Tyler Morning Telegraph CFO Thomas Clyde looks on.
Darst’s song, “When You Can’t Get To Him,” was chosen as the top pick by seven of eight judges who enthusiastically received the country style ear-pleaser, cutting across preferential genre lines.

“The sky was black as midnight, as they strained against the oars,”the song goes.

“As the wind waged war against them, they fought to reach the shore.”

“It’s just great story-telling” said judge Jim Fielder, formerly of legendary Gold record winning Blood, Sweat & Tears. “You can just see men pulling at the oars in the middle of a storm. It’s the kind of story-telling absent in so much of Christian music today.”

As many of you know I have recently resigned my post as the pastor of Faith Baptist Church Chandler, TX. It most certainly is a leap of faith yet I know we all have those “Ur’s” we must leave. God told Abraham Gen 12:1 ”
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. ” NKJV

I have been praying for years and asking the Lord if He would allow me to take the music and message He has given me to those everywhere in the highways and hedges. To share what God is doing in the kingdom, knowing that the work God is doing is greater than any denomination or religious organization. I want to Join God in what He is doing, in the world near and abroad. And rather than asking God to join me in my plans, I want to join Him in His plans. Listen to what Jesus said about God’s work.”But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” “Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. ” (John 5:17;19 NKJV) Did Jesus say He could do nothing?

Jesus was watching to see where the Father was working and then Joined in. WOW! How awesome is that? Every day I am praying for God to let me make a new “Kingdom Konnection”. What is a “Kingdom Konnection” you say and how are they made?

I believe this is one of the coolest truths of the N.T. Jesus said: Lk 17:21 “nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” ” NKJV — The Kingdom is not at 268 S. Broad St. the physical building of Faith Baptist Church, although it is every Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday night. The Kingdom is “within you”. However I believe it is more than that. I believe it is coming in contact with a believer who has a Kingdom mindset , “let this mind be in you with was also in Christ Jesus…” a person who realizes; that what God is doing in the earth through His people is greater than a single church, denomination or organization. People who allow God through “divine appointments” to come together to contribute their God given gifts and talents to each other for the ultimate glory of Jesus.
