Happy Mother’s Day

Mothers-Day-11
More phone calls are made on Mother’s Day than any other day of the year. These holiday chats with Mom often cause phone traffic to spike by as much as 37 percent.
I love mother’s day! However it is bittersweet for me as it is for many, but remember that which you choose to focus on becomes the state of your reality. Not everyone had an awesome mom like me, and although every memory of your mother may not be a pleasant one, the truth of the matter is that if you can read this you had a mother. My mother, Helen Lorraine Santa Cruz Darst was everything to me. She was my greatest fan, my biggest critic, my strongest ali, my dearest friend. I was 21 years old when the Lord called her home, she was only 47. Her death created a hole in my heart the size of Texas, a pain and emptiness that I thought could never be filled, a void that even to this day I would give all I possess for the opportunity to pick up the phone just to hear her voice.
I could never have fully appreciated my mom until she was gone, for it was only then that I fully realized how much I loved her and what a wonderful creation of God she was. I later was able to give worship and thanksgiving unto my Heavenly Father for the gift I was given in Lorraine Darst. My God is able to make all grace abound to those who call on His name! My point is, that good, bad or ugly….and no I’m not calling your mamma ugly. Whatever the condition of your relationship with your Mother know that Jesus can turn sorrow into Joy, that He works everything out for good, and can make any wrong right, for even the Son of God, the Son of Man had a momma.
I think of the story in Genesis concerning Isaac when he lost his mother. Remember Sarah was ninety years old when Isaac was born and she was one hundred and twenty-seven when she died. Her death created a huge vacuum in the heart of Isaac as well as Abraham. We don’t have ton of information, but we can see the truth that God is all about filling the voids in our lives.
(Gen 24:67 ESV) Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
I never thought I would ever have a sense of resolution from the death of my mother until the Lord blessed me with my wife Rebecca. I remember the first time I read this passage after I was married, man I balled because I was comforted in my mothers death. I can tell you God gave me a woman that reminds me so much of my earthly mother and all those things I needed (as mentioned above), she is an amazing mother and my closest friend. And when I refuse to grow up, I force my wife to become my mother of which she must step up more than I care to admit.
If your mother is still alive, call her, go see her, tell her how grateful you are to have the privilege to be her child, forgive her and enjoy this gift from God which is mom.

Have an amazing Mothers Day!
Grace and Peace in Christ Jesus
