The 3D Weekly
Blessings to everyone in the name of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Man that’s a long intro isn’t it? Sometimes I feel like life is one long run on sentence. I need Becky to review the things i write when it comes to public consumption because honestly english was never my strong suit. I’m sure those of you who have proficiency in that subject are already aware of that. (He uses the weak to confound the wise…the foolish to confound the mighty) Just for the record this in an “informal” publication so let’s keep it on the down low ok. It’s my desire to connect with the body of Trinity Church as much as possible and for a guy who likes to keep private sometimes it’s hard. I know you may be thinking; “Brother David an introvert”? but yes it’s safe keeping it to yourself, however it can also be lonely. I prefer to not be safe than to be lonely. I need people in my life, I love to be around people, it’s my bent i guess you could say. I love to be around my church family and enjoy the fellowship we have. We had a great time last Saturday hanging out, working…getting stuff done, eating, etc. Thanks to everyone who showed up and those who couldn’t, ‘come on man’ don’t feel guilty, no condemnation remember. It got done and I promise you will have another opportunity. Ok where was I….dang ADD! After being absent from the pastoral role for right at five years I’m trying to find my groove and then again I don’t think I want to find the old groove. It was more like a rut and you know what a rut is right? (Rut — a grave with both ends open.) I want to learn what it is Jesus would have of me and how He wants to build HIS church, to build us, right because WE are the church not the brink and mortar of 526 Benbrook.
I hope (confident expectation of good) that this Primer — (an elementary book for teaching children to read.) that is the official definition of the word, although it has some spiritual overtones of we becoming like children for if we don’t we can’t inherit the kingdom so says Jesus. [Matt. 18:3] I hope this Primer or this weekly email / blog will be something that will prime your pump, to get the water flowing. A primer that is an initial charge that leads to the ignition of gunpowder exploding that launches a projectile for the purpose of hitting an intended target, type of thing. I pray that something in this weekly publication with ignite a spark that will produce a flame to warm you and others as we follow our Lord into whatever it is His will has preordained.
My daily reading today was as boring as a mashed potato sandwich, (can you say that about reading the bible?) anyhow it was 1 Chronicles chapters 1&2, it was genealogies a bunch of names I can’t pronounce much less identity with for the most part. I thought you know life as a christian can sometimes be like that. Heck life period, christian or not can be like that. Meaningless names and accounts that don’t mean much to me. But we must know that everyone was significant in some way. Every person had a significant meaning and purpose, purpose that had a part in shaping my today, my here and now. Not every day or every week will seem to have a solid, beam me up, launch the hyperdrive excitement (for all you trekkies out there) attached to it, but you have to know the mundane days are not meaningless. [Ps. 90:12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.] Wisdom comes when we learn to reflect and a meaningless day, a meaningless task or job and with the help of the Spirit find purpose, find a plan, His plan for my life and embrace it as divine.
Keep your head up, keep believing that these days have a purpose and that God is working everything together for your good, on your behalf. He does all things well! even the boring stuff.
Grace and Peace
David Darst (Phil. 1:6)
hope to see you Sunday.
