Nashville Bound

We’ll it’s been quite a unique  end and beginning.  The Holiday season was very good to us and we enjoyed many blessings from many people.  The New Year has posed many challenges to say the least, it has been difficult but exciting.  I want to give everyone some updates as to what doors have opened and what it appears the Lord is doing, I’ll try not to bore you with the details and do my best to give you the concise version. Several months ago I was scheduled to sing over in Athens at the “Texas Music City Gospel Hall”  as a guest musician.  It was not a paying gig but I was going for exposure hoping that it would lead to some other doors opening and that I would be able to land some other gig’s a result.  Seed sowing gig’s I call them.   Well the day I was to sing I called and the sweet lady who host’ the event had forgotten about me and had booked someone else as the guest singer.  She told me to come on and she would squeeze me in.  I told her not to worry about it and to reschedule me when she had an open spot.  She informed me later of the date and who I would be opening for.  A group named ‘Shilo’ and the main group out of Nashville ‘The Palmetto State Quartet’.  I was late when I showed up for a brief sound check.  We’ll I opened up on the first set and then ‘Shilo’ then  ‘PSQ’ .  I opened on the second set after I was done a fellow who leads ‘PSQ’ (Larry Strickland) came to me and asked about the songs I had song and then asked if I would be interested in maybe joining a group like theirs.  I informed Larry that I was wide open and would love to talk to him about it.  He called me Monday and we had a great talk.  I flew to Nashville that weekend and found out some cool facts.  Larry used to sing bass for Elvis back in the last days, he came in to take J.D. Sumners place when J.D. became a icon so to speak.  I also had confirmed what I researched on the internet and what they said at the concert that Larry is married to Naomi Judd.  That was confirmed when I stayed in Naomi’s house that weekend.  That was pretty cool.My tryouts went real well and then we loaded up on the bus and went to Panama City FL. For a concert and got a taste of the road life.  Larry extended a formal invitation and after returning home and talking to Becky we agreed that it seemed like a great opportunity.  The cool part really was if the lady at the concert hall wouldn’t have forgotten about me and I wasn’t rescheduled I would have never been there when ‘PSQ’ was there and thus never had the door open.I ‘m headed to Nashville this weekend and we are going to start recording the new ‘PSQ’ album with the new members of which I’m one.  I’ll give you some new updates and fill you in or more of the story as time goes by.  Please pray for us as we are in a pretty big transition.  We need to sell the house and move to Nashville.  That is going to take a lot of God given intervention of which I know He is more that able.  Eph. 2:20.Blessings David
