#48 The Blessing at Bethany

As we look to the Resurrection and this time of Easter, it is a time for many thoughts and memories of meditation.  In this culture it becomes the second largest sales of candy outside of Halloween.  Don’t get me wrong I love to partake of some chocolate easter bunny, however it is so much more.  For TV, it becomes a time of ratings showing stories about the life of Christ and remembering.  For the church often, it becomes a time of record attendance and a large offering.  For me…a humble believer, it is a time for hope (confident expectation of good).  Jesus, my savior came and did for me what I could not do for myself, and it killed Him.  But the best part is that it couldn’t keep Him down, sin couldn’t keep Him bound and sin couldn’t keep Him in the ground.  He shook off death like someone would shake dust out of a garment, and walked out of that tomb without any help or assistance from anyone.   His victory is my victory!  “7But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.8Therefore it says, “WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN.” Eph 4: 7-8.

What a blessing!  In this sermon we see how Jesus continued His ministry of Grace and blessing on those whom He loves.  Even when fear and confusion had them hiding in a hole, He; as always, met them where they were and came in with uttering words of blessings.
